iPhone setup, two steps

Tap the dot. Get the max bid.

Add the bidcheck button once. During any live, one tap prices the card on screen. You never leave Whatnot or TikTok.

Needs an iPhone on iOS 14 or later and the Shortcuts app, which comes with iOS.

1. Add the Shortcut

First, get your key at getbidcheck.app/account. A free account takes one email, no password. Copy the key there.

Add to iPhone

Tap Add Shortcut and paste your key when it asks. When it first runs, tap Always Allow.

2. Turn on the floating button

  1. 1

Open Settings, then Accessibility, then Touch, then AssistiveTouch, and turn it on. A grey dot appears on your screen.

  2. 2

On the same screen, under Custom Actions, tap Single-Tap. Scroll down to Shortcuts and pick bidcheck.

Use it live

Watching a live? When a card face fills the screen, tap the dot. You get the card, its price, and your max bid in about 3 seconds.

Good to know

  • Works best when one card face fills the screen.
  • Prices are raw near-mint TCGplayer market prices.
  • Graded, 1st Edition and special variants can sell for more. When it can't tell which printing it is, bidcheck gives a SAFE BID off the cheapest one, which can only lose the auction, never overpay. It says no bid when it can't tell the card.
  • Free is 5 checks every 7 days. Pro is $9.99 a month or $79 a year for 150 a month. Unlimited is $19.99 a month or $199 a year.

Card too small on screen? Check a screenshot in the web app and crop to the card.

Build it yourself

Prefer to make the Shortcut by hand, or can't open the iCloud link? These steps build it. It uses a screenshot you just took, or else takes 3 a moment apart and bidcheck reads the sharpest.

  1. 1

    Create it

Open Shortcuts, tap + in the top right, and name the shortcut bidcheck.

  2. 2

    Text: your key

Add a Text action and paste your key from your account into it.

  3. 3

    Just took a screenshot?

Add Get Latest Screenshots (leave it on 1), then Get Details of Images set to Creation Date, then Adjust Date set to Subtract 15 seconds from Current Date.

  4. 4

    If it's fresh, use it

Add If: Creation Date is after Adjusted Date. Between If and Otherwise, put Resize Image (the Latest Screenshots, width 1024), Convert Image to JPEG and Set Variable Frame1.

  5. 5

    Otherwise, 3 quick shots

Between Otherwise and End If, three times: Take Screenshot, Resize Image to 1024, Convert Image to JPEG, Set Variable Frame1 (then Frame2, then Frame3), with a Wait of 0.3 seconds between the three. bidcheck sends only the sharpest one to be read, so a card moving in the seller's hand still gets read.

  6. 6

    Get Contents of URL

After End If, add Get Contents of URL and paste this URL:

    https://getbidcheck.app/quick

    Tap Show More, then set:

    • MethodPOST
    • HeaderX-Bidcheck-Key with the Text variable as its value
    • Request BodyForm
    • Fieldsimage1 = Frame1, image2 = Frame2, image3 = Frame3 (each a File)

Want a different margin? Add it to the end of the URL, for example /quick?margin=25 for 25%. The default is 20%.

  7. 7

    Show Notification

Add Show Notification. Tap its text field and pick the Contents of URL variable.

  8. 8

    Run it once

Tap the play button. Allow access to Photos, and when iOS asks to share images with the bidcheck site, choose Always Allow so it never asks in the middle of an auction.

Text (your key) Latest screenshot from the last 15 s? Yes: use it. No: 3 screenshots, 0.3 s apart Resize to 1024, JPEG Get Contents of URL (POST, Form image1-3, X-Bidcheck-Key) Show Notification

Rather double-tap the back of your phone than use the dot? Go to Settings, then Accessibility, then Touch, then Back Tap, tap Double Tap and pick bidcheck.

Ready when the timer starts.
